Victoria Falls
Safari & Wildlife Tour
Chobe National Park has one of the highest concentrations of elephants on earth, and on a good morning, you'll understand why the moment you cross the Botswana border. Herds of 50, 100, sometimes 200 elephants move through the park together, and that's before you've seen the lions, hippos, crocodiles, and countless antelope filling the riverbanks. This full-day trip from Victoria Falls gets you there and back without the hassle of figuring out borders, vehicle permits, or park logistics. We handle all of that. You just show up and watch Africa do its thing.

Chobe is most famous for elephants, the park is home to over 120,000, the highest density anywhere in Africa. But the wildlife list goes much further:
The combination of land and water gives you a genuinely different perspective on the wildlife. Things you'll see from the boat, hippos at eye level, elephants swimming midstream, simply aren't visible from a land vehicle.
Most Chobe day trips include only a game drive. The river cruise is what sets this one apart. As the afternoon heats up, animals converge on the Chobe River, elephants to drink and swim, buffalo to graze the grassy islands, hippos to surface and sink lazily in the shallows. You're drifting past all of it in a stable, purpose-built safari boat with open sides and good visibility. Guides know where to position the boat for the best angle. Late afternoon light on the river is extraordinary for photography.

Most nationalities, including UK, USA, EU, Australian, and most African passport holders, do not need a visa for Botswana for stays under 90 days. Your guide will brief you on exactly what documents to have ready at the border. You'll need:
When in doubt, contact us before you book and we'll confirm your visa requirements based on your nationality.
Chobe is worth visiting any time of year, but the dry season (May–October) is when wildlife viewing peaks. Water sources shrink across the broader landscape, so animals concentrate near the Chobe River, meaning incredible density during your game drive and even more dramatic sightings from the boat. September and October are the absolute peak months: temperatures are high, vegetation is sparse, and animal activity around the river is at its most intense.
The green season (November–April) brings lush scenery, newborn animals, and exceptional birdwatching, but visibility is reduced as animals spread out across the park. Still very worthwhile, and visitor numbers are lower.
How long is the drive from Victoria Falls to Chobe?
The drive to the Kasungula border is approximately 70km and takes around 1 hour. After the border crossing (usually 30–45 minutes depending on traffic), it's a short drive into the park. Your guide handles all border paperwork, just have your passport ready.
Is the Chobe day trip suitable for families with children?
Absolutely. Children love the river cruise especially, wildlife at close range from a boat is exciting at any age. We welcome children of all ages. Children under 12 pay $110.
What should I wear and bring?
Neutral-coloured clothing (khaki, beige, olive) works best on safari. Bring a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a camera, the river cruise especially rewards anyone with a good zoom lens. Binoculars are a great addition. Your water is provided, but you can bring additional snacks if you'd like.
Can I book this trip if I'm staying in Livingstone, Zambia?
Yes, we offer a Chobe Day Trip from Livingstone as a separate tour. Contact us and we'll sort out the logistics from your side of the border.
What's the difference between this tour and the Chobe + Impalila Island day trip?
This tour covers Chobe National Park, game drive and river cruise. The Chobe + Impalila Island trip adds a visit to Impalila Island in Namibia, letting you tick off 3 countries in a single day. It's a longer day (13 hours vs 10) and slightly higher in price. If you want the most adventurous option, go for Impalila, if you want to focus purely on Chobe wildlife, this is the one.
Will I definitely see elephants?
Yes, on virtually every single day trip. Chobe has over 120,000 elephants and they are active and visible year-round. We have never run a Chobe day trip where elephants were not seen.
